A native South Carolinian, Byron Wratee is a first-year doctoral student in Systematic Theology at Boston College. Byron earned a bachelor degree in English from Stillman College and a law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Before entering theological studies, Byron worked as a political activist and attorney. He also serves in the United States Army and has deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Before studying at Boston College, Byron earned a Master of Divinity degree with a concentration in theology and ethics from Candler School of Theology at Emory University. His current research interests include ecclesiology, theological anthropology, and political theology. He approaches theological questions using critical race theory and postcolonial theory. A lifetime gospel music singer and a classically tutored tenor, Byron has sung in multiple chamber choirs, directed choirs, and arranged liturgical music.Screen reader support enabled.
